Evolution of a moon lit sky

Here is the development process used to get the background image of the sky for my website to the  level of detail that is in my final design.

At this point the background was just a clear night sky with
the moon in sight there was no depth to the sky and felt too unnatural.

I added a few clouds to the sky scene to add some depth to the overall image they definitely added an interesting atmosphere but the clouds did not line up with the rest of my website like I wanted at this point so I continued.

At this point I moved some of the cloud formations around then added a few extras just to fill the gaps in the sky that felt too open around the moon.

For the final development I had decided that the clouds were perfect as they were but the atmosphere of the image was still lacking as the moon and the background colour felt too flat.
So i made the overall image darker and gave the moon a real eerie glow around it for added atmosphere and to give the ninja on the roof of my building in my site a more in place feel with the shadows of the night.

  1. Great documentation of your process Matt :) It's interesting to see the development of your imagery.
